In an article, “50 Years of the Jetsons: Why The Show Still Matters,” the Smithsonian Magazine describes the Jetsons as being born in The Golden Age of Futurism.
Flying cars, jetpacks, and robot maids — the Jetsons had everything Americans in the Space Age dreamed about.
It was filled with “Googie” style – a futuristic style influenced by jets and the atomic age. Googie style features: upswept roofs, curvy shapes, and space age designs, symbolic of motion like boomerangs and flying saucers.
Three years before the Jetsons, showed Americans a dream of a Googie future, ROYAL launched the Futura typewriter. The Royal Futura offered everything Americans could dream about in a typewriter – cool looks, aerodynamic curves, and beautiful colors.
